In 1977, Tim Carmean came to Houston to work in the oil services industry for Schlumberger Company, a Fortune 100 company. But as the oil boom receded and Tim saw people losing their jobs in the prime of their careers, he decided to change his focus.

Tim returned to school and began working toward his bachelor’s degree in business administration. At the same time, he evaluated various business opportunities. Tim Carmean chose to join the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, becoming a college intern in 1987. "I was drawn by the quality of the products and also the chance to be a part of helping others succeed," he says.

Tim interned for two-and-a-half years as he made the transition from one career path to another. He graduated from college in 1989 and in April 1990 became a full-time Financial Representative. In 1996 Tim became Managing Director of The Texas Financial Group in North Houston. He enjoys being able to help his clients solve problems, help new Financial Representatives succeed, and having a positive effect on other people.

In 2003 Tim completed the courses with the American College to become a Chartered Life Underwriter.

Associations and Memberships

As a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Tim Carmean participates at the national level and in the Houston chapter.

He is also a member of GAMA International, dedicated to promoting the professional development of managers in the insurance and financial services industry.
